A contemporary copy of a journal from a voyage up the Mississippi from St. Louis to the Falls of St. Anthony, June 1-Sept. 17, 1819, during which Forsyth delivered annuity goods to the Sauk and Fox Indians, met with Sioux Indians, recorded information about area lead mines, and travelled with soldiers establishing a fort at the St. Peter's River. Also present is a typewritten copy of Forsyth's will, Sept. 11, 1833, and probate documents.

Indian agent, 1812-1830. Residing in Peoria, Ill., since 1804, Thomas Forsyth was appointed Indian sub-agent without specific assignment in 1812. In 1818, he was appointed agent for the Missouri Territory and was stationed by 1821 in Sauk and Fox country at Fort Armstrong on Rock Island.
